A REFLECTION FROM THE MANUSCRIPTBY DAVID H. WEVER

BY DAVID H. WEVER
About the book
I wrote The Internal C-Suite around a pattern I kept meeting in leadership: the outer problem may be strategic, but the leader is also carrying an inner meeting. Safety, control, credibility, possibility, learning and competing truths may all be asking for a say.
The six core inner executives are the Protector, Controller, Performer, Visionary, Adapter and Integrator. The extended bench brings scarcity, relationships, skepticism and memory into view. Each carries wisdom, and each can distort a decision when it leads alone.
The work is to hear these priorities from the grounded center I call the CEO within. This companion offers a small version of the book’s mapping and board meeting practices, ending with something you can actually do.

The reflection follows the manuscript’s mapping and Internal Board Meeting practices: name the situation, hear possible inner executives, distinguish their wisdom from possible overreach, and choose a concrete action from the CEO within.
THE FRAMEWORK
Hear the parts. Lead from the whole.
The CEO within is the grounded center that can listen and lead. The six core roles are Protector, Controller, Performer, Visionary, Adapter and Integrator. The Financial Worrier, Relationship Officer, Innovation Saboteur, Archivist and Shadow Board extend the map. Alignment moves through audit, buy-in, repair and strategic unburdening. These are possible inner positions to explore in yourself, with room for each concern and responsibility for the whole.
