Endpoint reliability · Live check, signed score

Know an endpoint answers before you depend on it.

Send one MCP server endpoint or x402 HTTP endpoint. Wever reads it live and returns a signed report: whether it answers over HTTPS and with what status, whether its TLS certificate verifies, whether an MCP server completes its handshake and lists the same tools twice, whether an x402 endpoint carries a well-formed payment challenge, how fast it answers, and how it treats an anonymous caller. Everything adds up to one reliability score from 0 to 100.

What the check reads.

HTTPS and status

Whether the endpoint answers over HTTPS on port 443, the status code it returns and where any redirect leads.

TLS certificate

Whether the certificate verifies for the hostname, who issued it and how many days it has left.

MCP handshake

The initialize and tools/list handshake the directory runs for every listing, the tool count and whether a second tools/list returns the same list.

x402 challenge

Whether a 402 response carries a well-formed x402 payment challenge in its header or body, with the scheme, network, amount and recipient it asks for.

Latency

The median of three timed requests: the handshake and two tools/list calls for an MCP server, three reads for any other endpoint.

Auth behavior

One plain label: anonymous access, payment required, credential required, unreachable, with the response that decided it.

Each request goes to the public address of the URL you name over HTTPS, finishes within 5 seconds and reads up to 256 KB. The only request bodies are the MCP initialize, initialized and tools/list messages, and the request headers are the standard accept, content type and MCP session headers.

How the score is built.

PartPointsHow it is earned
Reachability25An HTTP answer below 500 earns 25; an answer of 500 or above earns 10.
TLS20A verified certificate with more than 14 days left earns 20; one inside 14 days earns 10.
Protocol30MCP: initialize 15, at least one listed tool 10, the same list on the second call 5. x402: a well-formed payment challenge 30, a 402 without one 10. A credential request with a WWW-Authenticate challenge 15, or 5 without one.
Latency15From the median of three requests: 15 at 500 ms or less, 12 at 1,000 ms or less, 8 at 2,000 ms or less, 4 at 4,000 ms or less.
Consistency10The share of requests answered below HTTP 500, times 10.

The report shows every component with its points and the observation behind them, the latency of each request and the time of the check, so an agent can keep the record and a person can read why the score is what it is.

From the agent directory

Directory listings and the verification each passed.

Every listing in the agent directory was verified when it was listed. Listings published by the hourly run passed the required fields, the HTTPS website load, the duplicate and content checks and, when an MCP endpoint is listed, an anonymous initialize and tools/list handshake. Listings published after operator review and the seed listings were verified against their cited source on the date shown. 2 listed MCP endpoints passed the anonymous handshake when listed.

To check a listing live today, call the reliability check on its endpoint. To see where a listing or a submission stands, call wever_directory-status with its submission ID or URL.

For x402 sellers and buyers

Check what an endpoint advertises.

The reliability check grades whether an endpoint answers. Two more checks grade what it advertises: whether the live price matches the listing, and whether its discovery declaration passes CDP validation.

wever_endpoint-honesty-check

Send the endpoint URL with the price, asset and network it advertises, and the recipient when the listing names one. Wever reads its live 402 challenge with one unpaid GET through the same guards as the reliability check, and the signed report says whether the amount, asset, network and recipient match, naming each mismatch with the advertised value and the live one.

wever_bazaar-declaration-check

Send a CDP Bazaar discovery declaration: the 402 body, a route declaration or the bazaar extension alone. The signed report says whether it would pass CDP validation and names every problem: the discovery envelope, schema patterns CDP rejects, price, asset and network consistency, and input and output schema completeness. A pattern ending in (?![\s\S]) passes as a plain $ anchor with the line terminators excluded beside it, and the report gives that fix.

Both cost 0.10 USDC per call on https://weverlabs.com/mcp and share the 10 free calls per wallet over a rolling 30 days. The declaration check reads only the declaration you send.

A short worked example

Check an endpoint from your agent.

The request

{
  "name": "wever_endpoint-reliability-check",
  "arguments": {
    "url": "https://weverlabs.com/mcp",
    "label": "Wever Labs main MCP"
  }
}

What the report returns

  • Score: the total out of 100 and each component with its points and basis.
  • Checks: the HTTPS status, the certificate, the MCP handshake with its tool count and list comparison, or the x402 challenge with what it asks for.
  • Latency: the three timed requests and their median.
  • Auth: anonymous access, payment required, credential required or unreachable, with the response that decided it.
  • The checked-at time and an Ed25519 receipt over the whole report.

Call it from your agent.

Connect to https://weverlabs.com/mcp and call wever_endpoint-reliability-check with a URL, an optional label and an optional kind: auto, mcp or x402. Each call costs 0.10 USDC on Base. Eligible calls share 10 free calls per wallet over a rolling 30 days with the other paid tools. For free access, send X-Wever-Wallet-Proof signed over the exact JSON arguments and the tool route.

Builders can list their own server from an agent with wever_directory-submit, which validates the same fields as the submission form and joins the same queue for the hourly checks. The contract lists the schemas, the score rules and how to verify a receipt.
